Colic Tonic

Description

COLIC TONIC is a blend of standardised extracts with the following content:

Lactase 10000 ALU – 300 mg (30 drops) / 360 mg (36 drops)
Foeniculum vulgare, fruit (fennel) – 10 mg / 12 mg
Matricaria recutita, flos (chamomile) – 5 mg / 6 mg
Melissa officinalis, folium (lemon balm) – 4.5 mg / 5.5 mg

COLIC TONIC is suitable for newborns and small children.

Purpose:

• Has a beneficial effect on the normal breakdown of lactose from breast milk or formula
• Supports normal digestive processes
• Supports the normal absorption of nutrients and the development of the newborn
• Suitable from the first day after birth

Recommended daily dose:

0–2 weeks: 3 drops per feed, 10 feeds, maximum 30 drops daily (3000 ALU)
2–4 weeks: 4 drops per feed, 9 feeds, maximum 36 drops daily (3600 ALU)
4–8 weeks: 6 drops per feed, 8 feeds, maximum 48 drops daily (4800 ALU)
8–12 weeks: 7 drops per feed, 7 feeds, maximum 49 drops daily (4900 ALU)
3–6 months: 11 drops per feed, 5 feeds, maximum 55 drops daily (5500 ALU)
Over 6 months: 12 drops per feed, 5 feeds, maximum 60 drops daily (6000 ALU)

Method of use: The drops can be given directly into the baby’s mouth or dissolved in breast milk or formula. Shake the bottle gently before use. Do not mix with hot food. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Use within 6 weeks of opening.

COLIC TONIC is a food supplement and is not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet. Store in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight, out of the reach of small children. Store below 25 °C in the original packaging in order to protect from light and moisture.

Colic Tonic is a formula created specially for babies from the first day after birth. It contains the enzyme lactase, which supports the breakdown of lactose from breast milk or formula, as well as plant extracts of fennel, chamomile and lemon balm, known for their beneficial effect on the digestive system.

Lactase (1900 ALU/ml; 10 000 ALU/g) – Lactase is a natural digestive enzyme that breaks down lactose, the milk sugar contained in breast milk and formula, into simpler sugars (glucose and galactose) that the body can absorb. In newborns and infants who do not yet produce enough lactase of their own, adding it to their food:

• helps reduce colic, bloating and gas
• improves digestion and the absorption of milk
• prevents discomfort associated with temporary or transient lactose intolerance

The lactase in Colic Tonic has high activity (1900 ALU/ml) and begins to act quickly on contact with milk.

Foeniculum vulgare (fennel, fruit) – Fennel is one of the most widely used herbs in paediatric gastroenterology. It contains essential oils (mainly anethole) which support intestinal motility, relieve spasms in the tummy, ease the release of gas (carminative effect) and have a mild anti-inflammatory action. Fennel is particularly suitable for infants with frequent colic, without causing undesirable effects.

Matricaria recutita (chamomile, flower) – Chamomile is a herb traditionally used in child healthcare thanks to its soothing and anti-inflammatory action. It calms the digestive system, helps relieve abdominal spasms and has a mild sedative effect that supports sleep and soothes irritable babies. The herb contains flavonoids and essential oils (such as bisabolol) which have an antimicrobial and antioxidant action.

Melissa officinalis (lemon balm, leaf) – Lemon balm is a safe herb, suitable for use from an early age. It acts as a natural antispasmodic on the gastrointestinal tract, supports digestion and reduces bloating, and has a mild sedative and relaxing action that makes it easier for irritable babies to fall asleep.
