The rich composition of standardised extracts in TUSSIDREN SYRUP effectively improves the symptoms of a productive and a dry cough, reduces the discharge of secretions and supports the decongestion of the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract.

The combination of marshmallow root and thyme is highly effective in reducing the cough impulse. The extract of marshmallow root effectively relieves a dry cough by forming a protective layer over the irritated mucous membrane, which reduces the urge to cough (the cough impulse). The polysaccharides in the roots of the marshmallow have a softening and anti-inflammatory action and in this way relieve the cough.

Garden thyme has been known for centuries as an expectorant, which helps the secretions to be expelled through coughing. In addition, the essential oil of thyme contained in the extract has antiseptic properties.

The combination of elderflower, cowslip, sorrel, vervain, gentian and peppermint helps the body to cope more quickly and more effectively with acute and chronic viral and bacterial infections of the upper respiratory tract. The extracts contribute to reducing the swelling of the mucous membrane, as well as to the easier and faster clearing of nasal secretions. As a consequence this also affects the symptoms of a productive cough.

Curcumin is known for its antiviral and anti-inflammatory action. Through inhibition of the bradykinin receptors, the extract effectively affects a cough in infections of the lower respiratory tract.

The extract of ginger root is widely used for infections of the upper respiratory tract, cough and bronchitis. It has an antiviral and antibacterial action.
